1.
I ran aimless down the street I destroyed my neighbors property I did evil just to see if I could toy with thee stealing not when hungry. Birthmark I need I can’t believe you don’t have one let’s take off yr clothes because I’m sure that it’s there. A red stripe on yr back or a splotch on yr sternum let’s take off yr clothes because I’m sure that it’s there. I hear stomping in the street snorting coughing sleepbringing suicide bulldozer. Dig for yr seeds because I know that you have some alphabet in stone set under yr tongue what you received without pay must be given away yr tongue stickin up from the dirt to mark yr grave. Why did you pull away from me? Why did I pull away from you? I think we’re both being self-centered and silly let’s get together and see it through
2.
Donuts 02:09
hope our tires don’t pop on the glass from wrecks past. Let’s do donuts in the parking lot and tie ourselves into knots until we run out of gas. It’s that time of year again when the ink calls for its pen. So let’s admit our bad habits and that the water has rushed from our hands but at least admit that we’ve done it, embrace and brace ourselves for our next mistake. It’s coming around again when the blood calls for its hands. This time let’s build our house further from town and in the trees highest branches. I know this ladder won’t break because we tied the rope ourselves and won’t forget the way
3.
Highways 00:56
burn last week to keep yr speed and blur up all the faces of yr parents in to black-n-white cartoons. Faster people fall fast asleep to the humming of their engines careening down a highway in the dark they think it’s sacred but it’s not and it’s not right, the mountaintop will never put up a fight.
4.
Bushwhacker 01:46
song follower – trail hollerer – backwards [backwoods] writing [riding] – what the night brings. Sun spinning string – wrapping us in – with orange and warm – yarnball of day. Needle in my – grandmothwingeye – scare off – too late – sew no goodbye.
5.
Backtracker 01:30
banished again and this time you will sleep for the rest of it. Dancing across the top of yr timpani my sympathy is vibrating – don’t whisper anymore you can feel it all in the floor – on yr skin yr membrane’s thin, it can be ignored – or it can let things in
6.
Glacial 01:13
we crawl like a comet through the stratosphere or a giant icecube over blackgreen ground opening the stone with the flow of frozen water searching down. The strength of these invisible strings is undeniable.
7.
if I tern my back to u whom I call daarling I trust that you don’t disappear. when no one is around do u dance like a gawblin? Stumble spilling muther’s tears
8.
all smoke curls just like little girls dancing to meet the ghost the time is high for us to fly and dip and spin and float. Now that the storm has come the creek has overrun. All rocks roll when the water boils bouncing to break into dirt they’ll take a chance to taptap dance and bounce like yr grandmotherskirt. Now that the creek has overrun it carries nutrients rotting flesh and hope
9.
don’t confuse the falling leaves with the floating words don’t forget to drop yr seeds the ground will treat you worse. We’re going to try to stay together but we’re going to need some glue I’ll climb the sticky mango trees and drop the fruit to you my leg will break when I drop down the sap will be our wedding gown sing a splint out of our wedding vows and marry us to now. Rain. Leak into yr bottlebone undry the inside. Something finally broke someone was finally healed truth seeps and sows silently into these fields.
10.
we cannot be broken we cannot be frayed we cannot be taken away from the edge where fear becomes lighter nightfire burns brighter the borders are finer and all that is said is that we are the water on the surface of the water we are all daughters of mothers longdead. Sew clothes let them go dreams beget children – pluck strings and let them grow wind through yr throat – weave me into the whole blacker than crows – so slow so close. So slow carry us home unalone
11.
have patience be naked the cloud over yr mind will dissipate wind never stops. You will hear the song you will feel the breath and see the smoke seeping from all the skulls. The mouth of the river can be yr mouth too flowing out//in of/into endlessveins circulate. Everycurse you’ve coughed everything you’ve tasted everytime you’ve spit or kissed or hated everytime you’ve known wrong everything pumped by yr heart into song
12.
I heard you used to be happier when you exposed it all when you ate more butter and you sang a lot harder and you dove in the most polluted water for the most prized fish of all
13.
you make me warm like a hotdog – you open me like a bun – I’ll stick to you like a sprinkle on icecream on a rollerrink dancefloor for one – my barbecue baby it took a kiss to rELISE you skated out of yr doghouse into the night the purple prince of the east – a scary sound at the window I need you right by my side I’ll knit an extra thick scarf so I can be hugging on yr neck for life
14.
I find the tempo and then it goes away I try to fit into the loop but I’m not built that way – just keep moving ‘cause when you stop it’s for good cemented in place – they broke yr little brittle fiddle but the streets are paved with glue we’ll stick to it when we play street hockey what are we going to do? Life pours slow but I do more so I hope I learn before it go
15.
Attic 03:30
this is desperate again this is old this is tattered at the edge this blanket has no heat of its own – count stairs to yr head climb the bones of yr home – I stayed in the attic for a year woke up on the carpet yr hair in my beard I hear the secrets in the wood the seam of the night makes the light understood – make bricks from parched lips flood the street with a poem. Come through to me like a key through the laundry tiny seeds evade machines
16.
swampsnakes n gators r circling round - hiding 'til midnight my heart is found – take my mind but not my bones – the swamp will eat me whole – too tired to weep pray for heavy currents deep to drag me by my feet from gator growls that I won’t greet – and in the night I won’t move my stillself craves something to lose and when the light jumps up I will admit I am a fool
17.
Starflake 01:58
(when no one is around except for the blanketsound of the sound of yr own listening for the breathing of the ground)
18.
go all the way upstream I’ll fly with no boundary I’ll join with the muddy what will remain of me when I cease to be (alluvium)
19.
scratching in the dark at the door reading demonic wastemaps on a rotten floor and pacing in the middle of the night chewing on my own teeth and sleeping through the fight – can’t see past my own eyelashwhips and refuse to step from my clifflips so confident in unconsciousness half shut lids here comes the piss– maybe this floor is rotten but I’ve forgotten what it once was tie me to the ceiling the roof is peeling it’s pulled by birds – can’t spit past the black teeth of my words my mouth wants all but it will eat me first down to my stomach where my hunger will burst and I’ll wet myself though still I’ll thirst – maybe I’m tired because I’m lying down and not the other way around – I hunt no mammoth
20.
Lye in Eyes 03:08
all is all we’ve seen it all but we’ve tried to ruin us once again eat from the inside out through the eyes and guide us disguised through the devil’s playpens – why worry if there’s no way out? The less I know the less there is to doubt – why should I be surprised it’s nobody’s fault but mine – listen to the man with the screamingheart with the bleedingvoice that knows the earth is dark listen to the blind man hear him scream he says mother she taught me how to read – all is night so curse my sight bless these words and read my soul to life – it’s nobody’s fault but mine
21.
suddenly awake at 4 AM to deafening singing
22.
I will sit and wait right here as long as it takes to get it clear tomorrow can come I have no fear I’ll wait through the fake if it takes years I’ll wade through the fake if it takes years
